By graduation about 20% of my classmates were looking to switch over to Sony. I now have the A7IV and while in photo school the brand break down was basically 70% Canon, 20% Nikon, and 10% Sony. I went from playing with my sister's Canon 6Ti, to owning a Canon SL2, and then upgrading to a Sony A7III. There were many reasons but at the time it was because of how many pro level features were available in a entry(ish) level body. They are behind in auto focus enough to make the cameras just not worth it when you combine that with the lack of lenses and that all their f1.8 glass is about 30% more expensive than any other companies f1.8 glass.įujifilm is crop sensor, I love the lenses and the look but I’m not going to pay $3299.99 CAD for a crop sensor camera. Nikon just too slow performance wise and a complete lack of f1.4 glass. Vertical front dial is not comfortable to use imo, and the on off switch is on the left side of the body. They are selling you a $2000 camera for $5k because it’s a Leica.Ĭanon has the canon lens tax, they are assholes when it comes to allowing 3rd party companies to make RF auto focus lenses, and they have stupid ergonomic decisions too. Leica is way too expensive for what you get. I also like that Sony manufactures all their own sensors etc. Sony’s lens selection and the fact that they are still in the top 2 performance wise.
